Chair opens first meeting in public

David Fannin, independent chair of the Community Partnership (CP), gave an opening statement at the start of the meeting being held today.

The meeting started at 2pm and was being held in public. Beforehand people were given the opportunity to attend a meet and greet at the Dunes Complex and chat to the CP members.

On the agenda today are presentations from

  • Environment Agency and the Office for Nuclear Regulation
    Joint regulators for geological disposal of radioactive waste. Offering an insight into how they regulate the developer.
  • Nuclear Waste Services (NWS)
    Martin Walkingshaw, Chief Operating Officer – providing an update on the GDF programme.
    Neil Hyatt, Chief Scientific Advisor, NWS – explaining GDF safety and the multi-barrier
    approach.
    Chris Keenan, Head of Community, Operations and Land, NWS – giving an introduction to Property Value Protection Scheme (PVP)

At the start of the meeting, David thanked people for taking the time to attend the meeting. He explained the role of the Community Partnership and the work being carried out. He set the scene and expectations of how the meeting would take place and the information to be covered.
