Developing our ‘community vision’ – with your help

March 13, 2025

How do you develop a community vision that creates opportunity, improves local infrastructure, enhances our resilience and supports transformational change to benefit all our lives over the next 50+ years?

The Community Partnership has set out to achieve this and, with your help, is creating a long-term plan – one which provides real local input for government, local authorities, councils and private developers, whether a GDF is part of our future or not.

A big thank you to those residents who have taken the time to share their ideas with us, either by attending events, adding comments to the ‘Vision Tree’ at Poppies on the Prom and Mablethorpe Carnival, or by returning postal forms and going online. We have received more than 900 items of individual feedback.

A tag hanging from a tree with a handwritten note on of what people want to see. Words on tag say - Better policing and better community supportAlongside your input as a local community, public sector and key stakeholders have also had their say. This included a review of existing visions and planning strategies and determining what is still relevant and what is needed.

Funding will be needed to support the things identified by the community, under themes of ‘Our Place’, ‘Our Economy’, ‘Our Education’ and ‘Our Environment’.

This information is helping us understand what you believe is important for future generations.

The vision report should be ready in a few months. In the meantime, we all need to be empowered. Take the opportunity to get involved in the process, have your say, and be heard.

Below are a few examples of what people have told us they would like to achieve:

OUR PLACE

  • Better access to medical facilities and healthcare services.
  • Improvements to transport links.
  • A traditional seaside resort – keep its character.
  • More things for young people.
  • Better community cohesion.

OUR ECONOMY

  • More permanent jobs, long-term and all year round.
  • Encourage and provide jobs outside of farming and tourism.
  • Town centre modernised and pedestrianised – we need a shopping centre.
  • The area needs more businesses to invest here.
  • Bring in money from outside into the area so we’re not relying on seasonal tourism and farming.

OUR EDUCATION

  • We need a secondary school.
  • More educational opportunities and more vocational training courses.
  • Apprenticeships and opportunities for younger generation to stay in the area.

OUR ENVIRONMENT

  • More green spaces and wild corridors.
  • The natural environment unspoilt by industrial development.
  • Sea defences to be robust.
  • A marina.
