Discussing the issues with NWS to understand a GDF

March 5, 2025

Nuclear Waste Services (NWS), the developer of the UK’s Geological Disposal Facility (GDF), ran a series of village hall events in February.  These followed the formal announcement on the proposed Area of Focus, previously Theddlethorpe and now an area of land between Great Carlton and Gayton Le Marsh, within which the proposed GDF surface facility could be constructed and focussed on the communities closest to the Area of Focus.

The GDF Community Partnership enables community members to engage directly with the developer to understand and discuss GDF issues.

Discussions include matters concerning the planning, construction, and operation of a GDF in the localised Area of Focus.  They also cover associated community investment and social, economic, and environmental implications, positive and negative, short- and long-term, in the wider defined Search Area.

If you live within or close to the Search Area, were unable to attend the village hall events, and have questions or would like more information, please email us, or find information here on our website.
