JB’s Sports Coaching Limited were awarded £78,108 to provide up to 520 primary school aged children the opportunity to participate in niche sporting activities, as well as providing 1,540 holiday activity places over a total of 20 months.
The first 6 months will be a pilot project within three schools; with an overlap from Summer 2025 of 18 months holiday activities at venues within the Theddlethorpe Search Area. The holiday venues will be in rural as well as urban areas to meet geographical and economic barriers to travel faced by parents/carers and the children. Provision of a snack and free healthy meal will be included at the holiday camp days for all attendees.
The enrichment sessions within schools and multi sports holiday camp days will increase the activity levels and physical health of those involved. Participants will be asked how they feel after the different sports/activities and whether they enjoyed them and would like to do them again.
Participants will gain a greater understanding of what makes a healthy lifestyle through the various factors and why it is important to them now, and in the future. Beneficiaries will be asked as to why physical activity and education is important during the project and after it has finished.
The young people in the community will experience higher self-esteem and gain greater confidence from the activities and mixing with others.
Finally, the project aims to broaden horizons for families, open up more to the wider world, and raise aspirations. It will open up opportunities and avenues for those involved, whether that be new sports and subsequent clubs and/or new friendships with others and their families.
