John Spendluffe Technology College were awarded £6,020 to purchase 15 reconditioned tablets, protective cases and a trolley to store them, and for 3 members of staff to attend a training session on using the Lego Spike equipment. The school were given 15 Lego Spike kits to use for a project in school to embed coding into the ICT curriculum in a way that engages and inspires students. However, these kits needed a tablet and Bluetooth to enable them to run.
All students in school (and future students in the years to come) will benefit from using the Lego Prime kits in their ICT lessons, and through Enrichment opportunities, including 141 students who live within the search area. This project will help to develop the STEM skills of students – many of these will be the workforce of the near future and could contribute to the development of the Theddlethorpe area, as well as the potential GDF.
The College is excited to be able to share the amazing work its students will do, and the skills they will learn, with the local community through its social media channels and other school publications. They would also love to run some projects with the feeder primary schools to develop their STEM skills, benefitting even more children and young people living within the search area.
