Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society were awarded £99,981 for their benefit advice project for the visually impaired.
The project will ensure that service users and their families get the tailored advice and help they need, not just with financial matters, but by providing access to the LLBS holistic service for problems not directly caused by money issues, including a befriending service, talking newspapers, specialist equipment, technology, and the landline telephone digital changeover, which is becoming a big issue for clients who often are unable to use or do not want internet access in their homes. This lack of digital access results in a reduced awareness of benefit entitlements and money management.
