Lincolnshire Gliding Club were awarded £94,528 to enable them to refurbish/replace ageing equipment and facilities in order to continue to maintain a level of operation and provide support for members and the local community and attract more memberships going forward. The project will also provide 100 taster flights for disadvantaged individuals. The enthusiasm to hold the club’s own STEM events for the young people of the community is another invaluable aspect of the project.
Lincolnshire Gliding Club has been operating from Strubby Airfield for 46 years, conducting approximately 2,000 glider flights per year. It is a Community Amateur Sports Club, offering important benefits of a social hub, including support for members after bereavement, serious illness diagnosis and recovery. The club has 30 members, ranging from ages 13-81, many of whom live on their own, and therefore it can be seen as a lifeline to some individuals.
