Sutton on Sea Residents’ Association were awarded £3,000 towards Furlongs Festival 2024.
The Festival has now been staged by the Residents’ Association on the King George Playing Fields, which border the sand-hills, for the last six years.
Due to the enthusiastic hard work of a strong steering committee and thirty or so volunteers, this has become a popular local event, which is regularly drawing crowds of 4,000 or so people.
Its atmosphere is like a mini country show by the seaside. It has a large arena with stalls and attractions spread all around it. This means that what happens in the arena can be viewed from the whole of the field, including those coming to trade or promote their work. The arena will be marked off by bunting.
The programme planned for the arena this year includes a Dog Show, display by Russell’s Circus, Wild Owls’ birds of prey are on show, along with an Alpaca display. In a designated space there will be vintage cars and trikes.
